The Maine Department of Corrections is proud to maintain a strong and collaborative partnership with the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA). Through this valued relationship, residents from SMWRC have the unique opportunity to volunteer at the farm, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to a meaningful cause.

As an exciting extension of this partnership, students from our digital photography program have been invited (this will be the 2nd year!) to visit the farm and capture its beauty through their lenses. Their work will be featured as part of MSSPA’s annual fundraising auction. While SMWRC & WC resident contributions represent just a fraction of the event, their participation highlights both their talent and their commitment to giving back. Every dollar raised goes directly to support MSSPA’s mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need.
