Steve’s Story

“… I appreciate getting it from the source. In my world, you are out there and doing your best which speaks volumes. I struggle sometimes and had felt myself being resentful toward the system again as a result of losing my post- conviction even when my victim's mom went in and testified on my behalf asking the Court to give me a new trial and sentence me to time served. She debunked the State's position my victim was peaceful as the State suggested. Then there is the system itself with people who are not enthusiastic about helping us. Then there are the politics you have to get through. Then there is the control they want to place over you, only seeing us as a number rather than a human who has dilielgently worked on redemption. We have the solutions as a result of having the experience, education, and the motivation to make the changes. Just saw you citing in a report for juvenile offenders. I feel if men in the system could all work harder we could solve more of what is going on. Allow the community to find the solutions to heal the community. Healing is a internal job. I feel sometimes they deflect the truth to make themselves feel better. I feel if we all come together being authentic and being real role models we can create more change. I don't feel it is about bucking and kicking at every little thing, as that takes away the fight for thr real issue. Balance. I see it over and over again in here, people are ego driven or driven by thler own agendas. It is about Love”
